Pillar of Strength!!

There I was, luckily happened to hook,
in this small house, besides the gushing brook.
Nestled under the shade of this mighty banyan tree;
Even the birds, feeling it to be risk-free,
enlightened the ambience with their chirp and sing.
The dwelling aged by nature, yet fresh air was in full swing,
Instead of bricks and mortar, with love and dreams, it was made,
Where all - the aged, the children and the rebellious youth - prevailed,
and with serenity and amity, all they dwelled,
For its grandeur and splendor, it was respected and upheld.
This house, a witness to numerous memoirs and tales,
of million ecstasies, also of occasional agonies and fails.
In the summer it would shade us from the rays,
and shelter us from the rain and chill in the rest of the days.
So in that house, we all felt safe and at peace,
be it the uncles, aunts, or their nephews and niece,
And on that day, when lightening struck and thunder roared,
heedless we were with our confidence highly soared,
that this house of such strength and posture, cannot ever fall,
because this house in earlier years, had endured it all,
However fate had a different say, that day,
unexpectedly two pillars, a rafter cracked and gave away.
Cracked roof, separated walls, and even the other pillars did not look strong,
the house was unsafe, insecure and nobody knew if it would last long.
Nightmare it was for the inhabitants, fear and anxiety ran high.
We as kids could have easily allowed us to sit and cry;
instead lifted the house’s fallen rafter high up in the sky,
and never allowed the family spirit to die,
as we quickly realized, for this house of joy and sorrow;
this house which is ours and for our legacy of tomorrow,
We had to counter this blow from unexpected killers,
And had to assume the role of strength pillars!!
